My Little Cheerleader

WARNING: This story is about morning sickness. I will try to spare you gross details to stick with the tone of the story.

This morning I woke up and thought I heard Joey. I listened for a minute, didn't hear her, felt the need to go to the bathroom, but wasn't quite ready to get out of bed yet, so I quickly fell back to sleep. Several minutes later I definitely heard her, so I opened her door, waved at her and headed off to the bathroom. By the time I was done washing my hands I started to feel sick. So I headed for the kitchen to get my water out of the fridge. Halfway down the hall I headed back for the bathroom. Nope, under control-back to the kitchen. Grab the water and run! I had my first surrender to morning sickness. I knew Joey was quietly standing in the doorway watching me, and I've worried about how seeing that will make her react, so I looked over to see if she was scared or upset or anything. She started CLAPPING!! I knew I wasn't done and that was not what I was looking for, so I told her to go find a book. She obediently went into her room, got one, and returned. She started to come into the bathroom, so I told her to sit in the hall and read it. More morning sickness. Joey stood in the hallway holding her book AND CLAPPING.

I don't even know what to say to that.

At least she didn't get grossed out, or try to copy you. Kinnedi was pretty good when I was sick but I tired to not let her see but of course that is hard. She would rub my back and say "I love you mom" Kids sometimes know just what to do or say to up lift you.

Last time I was sick in the bathroom (not morning sickness), Jr. kept standing in the doorway laughing and laughing at me. I don't know why he got such a kick out of it, but I'm glad I could laugh about it later. You can, too. It's a great story to share. Thanks.
