Momma Knows Best

Remember this post about the twins not getting Synagis, the RSV vaccine, because they weren't high enough risk to meet all the criteria? I did my best, but it happened. Poor little Tristan was diagnosed with RSV last night. He's looking pretty good, all things considered. We brought home a nebulizer to give him breathing treatments, and we will take him back to the doctor to have his oxygen levels and poor little self checked out every day until they feel we're in the all clear. After taking him to Instacare Monday night and feeling like I was paying a nice chunk of change, I'm sure, for something they could have told me over the phone basically, I was relieved when our pediatrician's office was able to get us an evening appointment, and even more so when I looked down the hall and saw it was OUR pediatrician, and even the nurse we normally see and was fighting the insurance to get us the Synagis, that we would be seeing! Its been a long couple of days, so I don't feel like re-hashing the whole thing out again, but just know he's doing pretty well all-considering, and after making it through the night without him sounding worse, I feel pretty calm and confident the worst is behind us. If you would like to know more details I'd be happy to answer any questions privately. My e-mail is bunchocoffeys at yahoo dot com.

Here is Tristan getting his breathing treatment at the doctor last night. He looks a little pathetic, but he actually enjoyed it. He just relaxed in Josh's arms and breathed in the vapor. They even turned it back on to settle him down when they were checking his oxygen levels (which he didn't like) afterwards.

Jeremy and I were talking about that this morning- how your boys weren't able to get the vaccine because they weren't high enough risk. (insert rolling of the eyes). Then poor little Tristan... But you guys are in our prayers.

Thank you. That whole situation just irritates me. In the past they would have been accepted, but this year they had to meet all 3 criteria, not just 2 out of 3, so being 11 days too old, here we are. The nurse told us there was another baby that was accepted, and had one shot, then the mom chose to stop doing them. I was ticked. Oh, that poor baby got RSV.
